Which Soap?

I've talked a lot about different shampoo bars, but now that I have tried a few, I'm going to compare them and telling you what my personal favorite is.

The first set of shampoo and conditioner bars up to bat are Lush:

I got lush shampoo bars for Christmas and decided to try them out. For about the month they were great. But after that they started making my hair super waxy even when wet and they were super gross. I had a hard time washing the soap out. They also stuck the the shower. Other than those issues they smelled fine, it was just the wax that held me back.

My Rating:

Smell: 10/10

Waxy Residue: yes

Did they clean my hair: yes

Overall Rating: 5/10

The next set of bars are..... Hy-Vee shampoo and conditioner bars:

The Hy-Vee shampoo and conditioner bars were the first bars I tried. They were god and didn't leave my hair waxy, they smelled great, but there was a downside. They came packaged in plastic, which I didn't realize until after I purchased them. That kind of defeats the whole purpose of using bars instead of bottles. Other than that they were great!

My Rating:

Smell: 11/10

Waxy Residue: No

Did they clean my hair: yes

Overall Rating: 7/10 due to packaging

The final set of bars are none other than Ethique:

Ethique has quickly become one of my favorite sustainable brands. Their shampoo and conditioner bars smell awesome, don't leave any waxy residue, they are shipped in compostable packaging, even down to the stickers, and last a long time. I used their sampler set and found the perfect ones for my hair! And not only do they have Shampoo and Conditioner, they also have facial bars and baby bars!

My Rating:

Smell: 11/10

Waxy Residue: No

Did they clean my hair: yes

Overall Rating: 10/10

Based on my above ratings, my pick is definitely Ethique! Regardless, just because a shampoo bar did or didn't work for me doesn't mean you will have the exact same results because everyone's hair is different! Feel free to try for yourself, this article is just to help you get a jump-start! Thanks for reading!
