My Honest Experience With Shampoo Bars

So, shampoo bars and conditioner bars are one way of reducing your plastic use. Like me, you might be hesitant to try them because you don't know what to expect. Luckily, I took the risk so you don't have to.

At first I looked into Lush shampoo and conditioner bars, but I like some people am not the best at saving up money, and they cost around $11-12 a bar. I started looking into other options but then I found some at my local Hy-Vee for only $7 a bar, and you already know that I bought them.

I purchased the Macaroon shampoo and conditioner bar, and let me just say they smelled amazing. The only downside was that after I bought them, they put each bar in it's own plastic bag, which kinda defeats the purpose of plastic free shampoo, but it was still less plastic than a whole bottle would be.

Now to the first wash. Overall it went great! All I had to do was wet my hair, rub it on the top of my head, and plenty of shampoo came off without a struggle. When I washed it out my hair did feel just a teeny bit waxy but as soon as I put the conditioner in it went away and my hair was super soft. When I was done with each bar I just set it in a tupperware container that I had sitting on the side of my shower to keep it out of the water stream.

The second time around I tried rubbing some on my hands but it didn't come off as easily on my hands as it did on my hair. There wasn't a waxy feeling the second time, so that's a plus.

In conclusion I would say I had a great first experience with these shampoo bars, the only thing that was upsetting was the fact that they packaged them in plastic bags, so Hy-Vee if you're reading this, put them in paper bags and you will have an even more amazing product!
