Company Spotlight: Love Beauty and Planet

Sustainability isn't always a straight forward path. Sometimes its a river with stepping stones you use to get to the end. Let me introduce you to what I would like to call a stepping stone for becoming plastic free.

Love Beauty and Planet is a company that was started with the goal of making beauty products in a eco-friendly way. They are cruelty free, vegan, and partially sustainable. Their Products range from hair to skin care, including shampoo and conditioner, hand wash, face wash, and many other options. Everything in their products is sustainably sourced, and is good for you and the planet. The Love Beauty and Planet website states the following in the section about them: "That’s why we started with one simple goal: whatever we do must be good for beauty and give a little love to the planet"

Love Beauty and Planet has accomplished this goal in multiple ways. First off, their bottles are all 100% recycled plastic. They state on their website that while their bottles are all recycled, their lids and pumps are not. Don't worry, they also say they are committed to making these lids and pumps at least 50% recycled by 2020! The Products themselves are also recyclable. This makes these products an easy step to take if your not ready to go plastic and single use free!

Another things that sets this company apart from other is their contributions to the carbon tax fund. Put simply, they contribute $40 per ton of carbon they use, and put it back into the carbon tax fund. This fund helps different communities and is used to do other good things. They are honest with themselves about how much they use and constantly work to cut back even more. They also use money to support environmentalists around the world, and to help spread the word of all the different climate issues we are facing.

The reason I'm calling this brand a stepping stone is not because they are bad, it is because they technically aren't 100% sustainable. While the bottles may be all recycled, they are still plastic, (and their lids are made of normal plastic) and that's why I consider this a step to being plastic free. That being said, these products are great for people looking to cut back waste but haven't found an option they like!

I have personally used their products before and they work great! They're a great option that's out there for anyone who wants to help the planet. Even little steps count. Seeing how mindful they are as a brand now, I look forward to seeing how they evolve and grow in the future.

You can shop their products at Target, Ulta, and other places that carry them, or by using this link: Love Beauty and Planet Website
